The Rays string of stellar outings by their starting pitchers continued on Sunday, and this time there bullpen didn't implode. Their 9-2 victory Sunday earned the Rays a series split in Seattle, not to mention they were able to win number 63, avoiding another +100 loss season. Andy Sonnanstine pitched seven strong innings allowing one run, while striking out 8. The Rays' could have easily swept the series had they been able to take advantage of four strong outings by a starting staff that allowed only 3 earned runs in the 27 innings they pitched. If not for the terrible performances by the bullpen in the first two games of the series the team easily could have swept the series before heading to Anahiem for a three game series.
-Carl Crawford's return from his suspension was short-lived, as he suffered a left groin strain. Although the injury is not considered to be serious, the team is not going to take any risks with there best player, and likely will shut him down for the remainder of the season.
-Carlos Pena hit home run number 40 continuing to add to his franchise record
-With a 7-5 finish over their final 12 games the Rays can finish with elusive victory number 70
