The Devil Ray’s soon will be no more. Oh, there will still be a professional baseball team toiling in Tropicana Field next year it just won’t be The Tampa Bay Devil Rays. A lot of the same faces you saw playing for the Devil Rays’ will be back in St. Pete next season. They just won’t be playing for the Devil Rays. If the rumors and speculation are true, and like most people I hope they’re not, the team will no longer be known as the Devil Rays, they will simply be the Rays. Not very catchy is it? It just sounds weird. Try saying it “Tampa Bay Ray’s”. Rays of what? Is it a fish they’re talking about? Because they have kept a stingray in the new logo and uniform. Is it a ray of sunshine? It could be why they went to yellow and blue as a color scheme. I understand that a 10 year old franchise that’s never been out of the American League East cellar, that’s under new ownership, that has become a culture of losing wants a new identity. It’s human nature to want to move on from a horrible past, and sometimes it easier when you start with a new wardrobe. The worst part is that the current uniforms, color scheme, and logo, not to mention team name, are far superior to what the so called experts have come up with.. It’s seems to me just one more mistake this organization has made. The product on the field is slowly becoming exciting to watch , now it’ll be the jersey that will become the most intolerable thing to watch on the field. Let’s hope that unlike the Lightning design that was leaked, that sadly was accurate, this will be proven to be a farce, though these sorts of things are usually right on the money. No one will know officially until November 13th, when the official changes are announced.

Rays Add Another Name To The List Scott Kazmir, Matt Garza, Dioner Navarro, Cliff Floyd and now Al Reyes. All were supposed to be key cogs for the Ray’s ascent from perennial cellar-dwellers to playoff contender. Now the team would just like them to get healthy...
Rays Making More Moves The team formerly known as the Devil Rays, who made waves by moving outfielder Delmon Young to the Twins in exchange for starting pitcher Matt Garza and new starting shortstop Jason Bartlett, dip into the free agency pool by signing reliever Troy...
Mission 2012 In less than one month the team formerly known as the Devil Rays has literally remade it’s self. They have changed their name they are known, for at least a few years anyways, as the Tampa Bay Rays. They’ve overhauled their color scheme, now blue and yellow...
