Since the Bolts ended their season high six game skid, and a winless start on the road, the team has suddenly won four consecutive games. The Lightning have shown signs that they will be able to answer the questions that have seemingly haunted them since the start of last season; The goaltending situation? Since the team has begun this 4-game win streak Johan Holmqvist has been nothing short of superb. Don't let the gaudy offensive numbers put up by the team during this stretch fool you. If not for a 40-save performance at the start of this current streak we might still be taliking about a prolonged stretch of losses. The offensive players have begun to feed off of Holmqvist's sterling play and have been challenged to produce, and they have. Will the loss of Dan Boyle again, this time indefinitely, will be detrimental to an already young and inexperienced defense? In what may be the most suprising development the defense has been as good as the goaltending. Gone are the nightly 2-on-1 chances, break aways and opposing forwards standing unscathed in front of the Lightning net. Where is the dynamic offense gone? It never went anywhere. The Lightning play a very offensive minded, attacking style of game that is not suited to playing from behind. It requires the defenseman to think offensively and to be aggresive. A style that requires the goalie to make a big save or two a game to be successful, a feat that lately Holmqvist has been able to do. The Season is not yet a quarter of the way through the schedule, but for now the Bolts seemed to have the answers to a successfu lseason
