IS THERE A NEW LOGO?

We’re exactly two weeks from the start of the NHL season and here’s a few tid-bits of some goings on down at Channelside Drive. The rumors have been swirling for a few weeks now that your Tampa Bay Lightning have a new logo. While the Organization will neither confirm nor deny that there has been a change, someone leaked it on the internet It’s really not that drastic, so I’m not really sure what’s with the cloak and dagger routine. It’s speculated that the announcement/unveiling will be at a fan festival on August 25th.

Congratulations to Craig Ramsay who’ll be joining new Coach Claude Julien’s staff in Boston. Ramsay was Associate Head Coach on John Tortarella’s staff, serving seven years with the Bolt’sbefore he was dismissed earlier this summer. It was no secret that Tortarella’s and Ramsay’s coaching philosophies and styles were vastly different, perhaps leading to an “enough is enough” type situation. You may remember the Bolt’s had replaced him weeks ago with former Bruins Head Coach Mike Sullivan.

And finally Ryan Craig’s arbitration case was heard yesterday morning. There probably will not be a ruling in the case until at least next week, as these things tend to be a relatively slow process. Both sides were quite far apart with Craig reportedly asking for a $1.2 million and the Lightning countering at about half that ( $650,000). It will be interesting to see how this, and all other arbitration cases this summer, are effected by the new Salary –Cap number. Stay tuned in the coming weeks
