The Lightning effectively got training camp under way on Saturday, wrapping up the conditioning portion of camp, and starting scrimmages. After a lackluster practice Saturday, in which John Tortarella made it clear he was displeased, the Bolts seem to rebound Sunday. They seemed to practice with a sense of urgency and an intensity that was missing Saturday. Neither game produced much offense, and only Brad Richards, with two assits, produced points on both days. The story of the first couple scrimmages has been the goaltending. Marc Denis stopped all 17 shots he faced including a Marty St.Louis breakaway. Karri Ramo was also impressive in his battle to make the team stopping 16 out of 17 shots In limited action Johan Holmqvist stopped 7 of the 8 shots he faced. The performance of the goaltending is critical to the success of the Bolts, hopefully this is an early indication of good things to come for the season ahead
