The news keeps getting worse for the Lightning on the injury front. One day after the Bolts learned that Dan Boyle, who sliced three tendons in what can only be described as a freak accident, would be lost for 3-6 weeks; they got word that Ryan Craig was out indefinitely. Craig was scratched from saturday night's 2-1 loss to Washington with what was deemed back spasms. The MRI results showed it was much worse, and Craig will be sidelined with a herniated disk in his lower back. The good news is that surgery has been ruled out for now, but it seems that it will be a problem that will linger for the entire season.
Vinny Lecavalier's injury is not serious and he's being held out of game action for precautionary reasons.
Chris Gratton's eye seems to be healing, and Michel Ouellet has been practicing, both should be back in the line up within the next few games.
The Bolts overcame an early defecit to defeat the Red Wings in their preseason home finale. Martin St. Louis's two goals led the way for the Lightning as they rallied to score 4 straight goals and hold off an undermanned Detroit team. Karri Ramo shook off a lethargic start to finish strong stopping 20 of the 23 shots he faced to earn the win. Brad Richards added two assists to bring his total to 5 assists in just two preseason games. The Bolts closed out the home portion of their preseason schedule with a 2-1-0 record.
